AMIGO SKATE — Building the Cuban Scene

We first became aware of Amigo Skate during its Go Skateboarding Day event in Havana last year. We were educated on the fact that someone has to physically bring a skateboard to the island for you to get access to product as there are currently no skate shops in Cuba. This harsh reality makes it extremely difficult to skate. This is where Amigo Skate steps in. It has been taking skateboards and supplies down to Cuba and passing the gear out to the locals for free since 2010. And this year, it is planning on a huge Go Skateboarding Day event that includes bringing down 100 boards! Watch the video above and visit the Amigo Skate website for more on its mission. •June 18-19 – begin construction of Cuba’s first miniramp at Havana DIY Skatepark

•June 20 (Tuesday) - Skate, explore, Collaboration Skate/Art Project (B4B NYC), Skate Meet and Greet on Prado and Opening Party

•June 21 (Wednesday) - Go Skateboarding Day skateboard parade through Havana

•June 22 (Thursday) - 7 year anniversary photo-show and video presentation at Fabrica De Artes Cubano, Foundation “Oddity” video premiere

•June 23 (Friday) - Mural Painting at skatepark (day), Tattoo Art Show & Expo (evening)

•June 24 (Saturday) - Skateboard mini ramp contest at skatepark, 

•First ever girls game of skate!

•June 25 (Sunday) - Downhill Longboard Speed Races

•June 26 (Monday) - Hand out 100 Skateboards
