BRIAN ANDERSON — The New Yorker Profile

Last September, Vice Sports released a Giovanni Reda-directed documentary about Brian Anderson in which he came out as gay. The world took notice.

It’s rare for an athlete that has a profile as high as Brian’s to come out in any sport. Currently, Brian is the only openly gay athlete to have a signature shoe, period. Given that, this story made headlines in mainstream media—giving Brian, and skateboarding on a whole, a great deal of attention.

The New Yorker just released a profile on Brian that was produced, shot, and edited by Nathan Fitch. He talks about his life after the announcement and gives some perspective on the impact coming out has had on him.

It’s interesting to think that a skateboarder will go down in history as a pioneer in all of sports.

Best of Brian Anderson
