SB: Is your birth name Erik Ellington or is that just a stage name because you thought the double E would make for a good logo in the future?

EE: Ha ha! Yeah, but I think when I was really little I wanted to change it to something like Bo Duke from Dukes of Hazzard, but never could.

Where and when did you first start skateboarding?

I started skating in Anchorage, Alaska nearly 18 years ago.

What keeps you skating?

There's just a certain feeling I get when I stand on my board. It's the same feeling I got when I first started.

Is that feeling different from when I first met you in Alaska sixteen years ago?

I can't believe that was that long ago. I remember you had a pink blank birdhouse board... No. It's the same feeling now as it was when I first started.

I've always been a fan. Did your style evolve from anyone else you admired past or present or is it something you just grew into as you kept doing it?

Thanks! I guess it's evolved over time, but I've definitely been influenced by the places I've lived, my friends, and my favorite skaters over the years. I used to really want to be like Mike Carroll when I was younger, I bleached my hair blond and everything. Nowadays I'll throw on a coat and feel inspired by my dad, it's cool.
