SB: What's the status right now with Earl, the writer's strike, etc?
JL: Earl's been shut down for about 10 or so weeks due to the writers strike. We had two pre-strike episodes written that we filmed and then we were shut down.
Is there a difference between working on Earl and working on a movie? Do you prefer one over the other?
Movies tend to be a little easier because they move much, much slower. With Earl, we have to shoot 6+ script pages a day to film an entire episode in 5 days, so it gets really tiring. Far fewer and much shorter breaks on Earl than on movies. But Earl is fun, and good material is good material, so it doesn't really matter to me if it's a movie or a TV show.
