12TH & A — East Village, Manhattan
With its perfect tennis court flatground, giant Supreme logo on the wall, and Krooked Eyes peeking out in all of the clips filmed there, 12th & A is one of the most recognizable skate spots in NYC—even if it is technically just a location for an afterschool skate program. A quick push from Tompkins Square Park in Alphabet City, 12th & A is a guaranteed bust-free spot that served as one of the City’s only decent skateable “skateparks” for four years, despite the surrounding neighborhood’s efforts to tear it down. Thanks to the persistence of founder of 12th & A, Billy Rohan, and several other skaters, 12th & A continues to thrive. We met up with Billy and The Mountain Dew team to give us the lowdown on the spot.
