Geriatric Tour

When you think of a “geriatric trip,” it conjures images of mothballs, talking about how kids today don’t appreciate anything, and muttering about drivers who don’t signal. In between swigs of Metamucil they might get some vintage clips. You wouldn’t picture rad, ripping European skating in one of the most picturesque locales in the world. You don’t know these geriatrics.

A few years ago, Roberto Aleman had the idea of starting a group chat strictly for his fellow over-30 skate brothers. They named the chat “Geriatric”—you have to be at least 30 years old to join the group—and they made plans to pack their dentures and go on an extended five-day weekend trip along the coast of Southeast Spain. Destination: Alicante (the Spanish equivalent of Boca Raton, Florida).

OG Geriatric Roberto Aleman was joined by Daniel Lebron, Julian Lorenzo, Erik J Pettersson, Alberto Velasquez, Edu Munoz, and Manolo Robles… This is not a crew that anyone would consider “old.” All of these dudes are on point, even at their advanced ages (just look at today’s Trickipedia).

But, in the beginning of the trip, Daniel Lebron was benched. “I couldn’t skate the first three days because of a little injury, but I did skate the last two days,” Lebron says. “Thanks to the others we came back with a lot of tricks!” They sure don’t make ‘em like they used to.
