Santa Cruz has an impressive new generation of riders, and they all have fascinating backstories. In “True Grit,” the brand gives you some insight into Blake Johnson‘s world. The Venice, California native talks about his childhood, how he got into skateboarding, and how the rise of “Silicon Beach” has threatened countless locals’ ability to reside in the city they call home. (As he says: “Gentrification happened… you know how that shit goes.”) Johnson is the past, present, and future of Venice.
