Blind Skater Dan Mancina Profiled On CNN

Dan Mancina, one of the most recognizable faces of the adaptive skateboarding movement, was recently profiled by CNN about his journey. Of course, this guy has inspired the skateboarding world with his drive and determination (especially here at The Berrics where we got to witness it firsthand on several occasions); now, he’s opening the eyes (maybe that’s the wrong phrase) of nonskaters who watch CNN.

In the video ‘The Blind Skater Challenging Misconceptions About Sight and Sport,’ Mancina says, “I’m going through these realizations about my blindness and myself and realizing: I’m still the same person and I can still do all the things that I love. I just had to do them a little bit different.” Preach! Watch the profile, above.

Mancina started losing his eyesight at the age of 23 due to a degenerative eye disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa. Nevertheless, he has adapted to his circumstances and found some inventive ways to continue skateboarding. Watch some of his recent projects with The Berrics, below:
