Blondey McCoy's Adidas Superstar Design Is So Transparent

Clearly, Blondey McCoy knows how to design shoes—literally. His take on the classic adidas Superstar 80s shelltoe is translucent, and skateable. The London native updated the mainstay for adidas Skateboarding‘s Fall/Winter 2019 catalog.

“Having your name on a shoe is the highest honor you can be awarded,” McCoy said about the collaborative design, “I wanted to do something that had never been done to it before.” And this troublemaker succeeded, creating something that shows off your mismatched socks.

Influenced by knitted sock shoes and PVC trench coats seen in the high-end fashion realm, the Superstar sports a translucent upper, contrasted with the classic three stripe black overlay and white synthetic leather eyestays, tongue, and heel. The familiar and finishing touch includes a gold foil name stamp that reads “BLONDEY.” The shoes will be available on the adidas website and select retailers beginning on December 14th and will retail for $110.
