Sure, Supreme has transcended skateboarding at this point. But you only have to look at its beginnings to remind yourself that it is, in fact, a skate shop. And it’s not too often that skate shops get featured on network news. When it does happen, it’s usually because a horrible event took place there. That’s not the case with CBS Los Angeles’ February 14 report on the lines at Supreme. Its block on Fairfax started getting so hectic that it forced the store to introduce a text-message system for new releases. Imagine if you were flipping through the channels and this popped up on the screen. You’d definitely do a double take. We sure would!
