THE CCS X ADIDAS HUBBABERG INVITATIONAL: TWO GREAT TASTES
Nostalgia has become a hot commodity in skateboarding. Rebuilding, reworking, and reimagining spots, videos, and even fashions of the past is not only lucrative but can also inspire a younger generation to appreciate what’s come before. CCS and adidas Skateboarding are certainly no strangers to this concept: last year they partnered to erect a scaled down version of El Toro in Portland, Oregon; adidas, on its own, is continually referencing skateboarding’s pioneers.
The two brands teamed up for a “spot resurrection” that is more of a hybrid. It may seem odd at first—SF’s Wallenberg Big Four, still technically alive, surgically attached to the infamous Hubba Hideout—but the result has a two-great-tastes-that-taste-great-together vibe: “Hubbaberg.”
CCS and adidas invited the best of the best best to do their thing on the Frankenstein’s creation. The resulting clips will probably make you think, “Damn, adidas is spoiling us.” What will they do next year? Can we suggest a “Loop of Faith”?
