Colorado’s Jeff Markman Is Skating 800 Miles To Long Beach For Charity

Durango Herald reported yesterday about the journey of one Colorado skater who REALLY wants to go to Long Beach’s Cherry Park: Jeff Markman is skating the full 800 miles for his charity, Boards For Brazil (which sends fully assembled skateboards to kids in or near Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil—Lucas Rabelo‘s hometown) and he’s hoping to be there by November 1. Now, the 34-year-old is somewhere in eastern Arizona, and as long as the weather cooperates he should be able to hit his daily goal of 30 to 50 miles per day.

Interestingly, Markman is NOT using a longboard for his journey. When we first learned about this project we immediately pictured a longboard, with or without those long-ass paddle things, but this isn’t the case. He’s riding a legit deck with Shark Wheels. It’s kind of a sick choice of wheel: Shark sent a package to The Berrics nearly seven years ago, and when we tried those counterintuitive bad boys we were blown away (the profile takes a while to get used to, but they do work as advertised).

When we learned that this charity was benefiting skaters in Fortaleza, Ceara, Brazil, we immediately thought, “Does this mean more Lucas Rabelos will have new skateboards??!!??.” We hope so. Check out some of our video projects with him over the past year, below:
