GOPRO: STORYTELLERS ON THE GO — New Drone, Cameras, and Cloud Service
This morning, GoPro held a live event in Squaw Valley, California. We know what you’re thinking: “Was it filmed on a GoPro?” Well, of course! But more importantly, the company announced a bunch of new products and services, all designed to make end-to-end storytelling (capturing, editing, and sharing content) a swift and easy experience.
First off, GoPro has an all-new HERO5 line (including the Black and Session models) that can auto-upload photos and videos to their game-changing cloud-based service, GoPro Plus. You can use GoPro Plus to access, edit, and share any of your content (you just need a phone or computer). GoPro Plus is being offered as a free trial, starting October 2nd ($4.99 a month after that period), and it definitely seems like an indispensable time-saver.
“Karma”—GoPro’s new drone—folds up and fits in your backpack. The word on the streets is that Karma is a “painless out-of-the-box” drone experience. The time has definitely come for a painless drone experience. (What goes around comes around, they say, but we’ve all had situations when lesser drones just didn’t come back.) In a great example of GoPro looking forward, the camera on the Karma is actually placed at the front of the drone, eliminating any unsightly rotor blades creeping into the frames.
All of GoPro’s new offerings will be available starting October 2nd. If anything, GoPro’s next wave of first-person shooters will make filming and sharing skate clips even more fun than ever!
