The world has been hit hard by the coronavirus, with more than 446,000 lives lost to date. Stay-at-home orders contributed to the bankruptcies of many businesses, and public health made large-scale events a distant memory. In California, there is a possibility of some restrictions being lifted soon (indeed, many businesses have already reopened) so Hypebeast asked Lizzie Armanto, Ryan Sheckler, Kelly Hart, and all-star wood-shaper Paul Schmitt to share their thoughts on skate culture in the midst of a global pandemic, and the many ways in which they have been supporting the community.

All four have different takes on the situation, of course. Armanto, when asked how she has been handling the quarantine, says, “One of the great things about skating is that you don’t really need anyone else and can often go out and be totally distanced from any other people. It’s always nice to skate with some friends, but it’s not a necessity.”
