Mikey Alfred is making quite a name for himself as a filmmaker. With a couple of solid shorts under his belt, Alfred’s latest collaboration with Fader is his biggest production to date. Shot on location in North Hollywood and Burbank, Summer of ’17 revolves around Jeff—a conflicted teen played by Ryder McLaughlin who attempts to win over his summer crush while on a journey of self discovery. Produced by Malcolm Washington, directed by Alfred, and shot by Ayinde Anderson, Summer of ’17 delivers fantastic cinematography, authentic dialogue, and manages draw the viewer into the story. You’ll certainly feel as if you’re along for the ride during this day-in-the-life piece that perfectly captures the vibe of youth in Southern California during the carefree days of summer.
