Japan’s Sakura Yosozumi Wins Olympic Gold
The Olympics held its Women’s Park Skateboarding event yesterday, with Japan once again dominating the top spots. Powell-Peralta’s Sakura Yosozumi secured the gold by scoring 60.09 with her first run; Kokona Hiraki, also repping Japan, got the silver; and the U.K.’s Sky Brown took bronze. Congrats!
We’re beginning to see a pattern here… Japan’s Yuto Horigome and Momiji Nishiya also earned gold last week. With the Men’s Park Skateboarding event coming up today, there’s a distinct possibility that Japan will sweep the top spots in all four skateboarding events (insert bugged-eye emoji/exploding head emoji). This Olympics is already historic in, like, several different ways, but that would be super impressive. You gotta tune in tonight to find out what happens: Prelims are at 5:00pm PST and Finals will be at 8:30. Don’t miss this last skating event, because there probably won’t be another one for three years or so.
Oh, and to all the skaters representing Japan at the Olympics… you guys are FUCKING GOOD!
