Monster Energy‘s Maki Tezuka is the latest subject of the brand’s documentary series ‘Aspire-Inspire’. Tezuka started skateboarding at 3 years old, encouraged by her father who is a passionate skater. Last year, she earned silver in Women’s Park at the X Games, then earned her second X Games podium with bronze at Chiba this year.
Tezuka began cultivating her unique riding style at a young age, inspired by watching her father and his peers, eventually drawn towards tranny. “I got into transition skating because my local skatepark has a lot of transitions. I don’t think transition skating is big in Japan, but there’s so much DIY stuff.” Watch the video, above!
