There were the most school-aged children in the world in Afghanistan at the time, half the population is under the age of fifteen. It was like, “This totally makes sense!” Nobody’s engaging with young people and they’re engaging with me, through the skateboard. I’ve got to take action…I was passionate about skateboarding and they were also passionate about skateboarding. I saw myself in the kids. —Oliver Percovich
