The Olympic Channel introduces Olympic Skateboarding in its latest “New Sport on the Block” segment. Produced by the International Olympic Committee, this edit gives us a first glimpse at how skateboarding will be portrayed during the 2020 Tokyo Games. It features World Skate President Sabatino Aracu giving an overview of what skateboarding means to the Olympics in terms of developing a younger audience. There’s also a brief interview with Bob Burnquist and Leticia Bufoni—who represent the Brazilian team—talking about the Olympic Games from a professional skateboarder’s perspective. While this is definitely geared towards a mainstream audience, it’s not the worst representation of skateboarding that we’ve seen. And it certainly gives us an idea of what to expect in 2020. Have a look for yourself above.
