Olympics Update: Official Date Set For Tokyo 2021

It has been one week since IOC president Thomas Bach and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced the postponement of the 2020 Summer Games. Today, the historic announcement (the Summer Games have never been postponed like this before) was followed by an official start date: July 23, running through August 8, 2021.

Last week, the IOC released a statement supporting the decision, saying the Games “must be rescheduled… to safeguard the health of the athletes, everybody involved in the Olympic Games, and the international community.”
