Eight years ago, The Berrics connected with a group of lively teenage skaters in Brooklyn, NY. Among this group of go-getters was a future entrepreneur and would-be captain of the underwear industry. This “Brooklyn Boy,” Van Nguyen, has realized his longtime passion project—Pomono Clothing—a premium men’s undergarment brand with a “buy one give one” model benefiting homeless shelters.
Pomono is a direct-to-consumer underwear start-up that aims to save you time and money. By circumventing traditional outlets, designing underwear in-house and communicating with customers directly, the company has been able to deliver a premium experience at a better price. The kicker is thaqt Nguyen’s company also delivers underwear to those less fortunate.
Underwear is the most requested item at homeless shelters; health and safety issues prevent shelters from sanitarily providing used undergarments to the neediest. Pomono plans to alleviate this by donating a pair of underwear every time a pair of Pomono underwear is sold.
With the success of their recent Kickstarter campaign, Pomono is set to start their giving plan in New York City, Nguyen’s hometown, and then then expand outward to the rest of the U.S. and beyond.
Its debut collection consist of one style of boxer briefs in four colors and four different sizes, from small to extra-large. Pomono boxers are the perfect blend of simplicity and comfort.
