When Alien Workshop’s “Photosynthesis” was released in 2000, the first thing I noticed was the thought and care put into piecing it together. Most skate videos at the time were all about the tricks, whereas “Photosynthesis” just seemed to have more personality and character. Joe Castrucci had created this recipe, with the perfect mix of visuals… Super 8/16mm film, still photos and intricate titling spliced together with VX-1000 skate footage. Then came “Mosaic” in 2003… the filming, editing, titles and soundtrack were an unforgettable combination. What Joe did with these videos is the number one reason I picked up a camera and began editing in the first place. – Chris Mulhern
