Rob Dyrdek Interviewed On ‘The Nine Club’

Rob Dyrdek dropped by The Nine Club for a much anticipated interview covering his long list of accomplishments. They talk about meeting Neil Blender and getting on G&S; getting on and helping to form Alien Workshop; his first shoe; his video parts; building the first skate plaza in his hometown of Kettering Ohio; Rob & Big on MTV; grinding the “square” rail in downtown LA; creating the Fantasy Factory; how he came up with Street League; starting Ridiculousness; buying back DNA Distribution; and ‘SLS Trick Of The Year.’

Watch his 2 hour and 24 minute conversation, above.

Dyrdek is a true idea man, but at least one idea caused a bit of controversy in the six-block radius east of Skid Row in Downtown Los Angeles back in the day. When Fantasy Factory aired on MTV in 2009, Dyrdek’s Alien Workshop teammate—and Berrics co-founder—Steve Berra pointed out some suspicious similarities to The Berrics, then in our second official year as a revolutionary digital platform. Berra put Dyrdek on blast for this homage in a ‘Text Yo Self’ episode from October 2009. (Dyrdek’s response? Our ledges were made of wood and his are concrete… umm, nice try, dude.) Revisit that alleyway confrontation, along with Dyrdek’s BATB 1 battle versus our other co-founder Eric Koston, below:
