This kid Reef Orlando has been quickly progressing his vertical skateboard talent in the last year. I heard he has his own indoor vert ramp in Florida so I guess it’s no surprise. Stalefish the night before the Rumble.

One of my favorite skaters is England’s Sam Beckett and he had some of the most amazing rides during the day. This Indy nosebone over the channel was one of a dozen hot moves in this run.

The channel of a vert ramp is meant to be crossed and this one has seen thousands of crossings in its ten year lifespan. Steven McKaig utilizes the fingerflip lien air to get to the other side.

Archer Braun has a unique style and also a great bag of tricks like this backside tailskidder across the old car obstacle.

Futa Hashimoto travels across the channel via a frontside invert—not that far considering he had traveled from Japan just a few days prior.

Auby Taylor used to live under this ramp but now he is making his home in Austin, Texas. I practically begged Auby to do one more Fall Guy (frontside invert to fakie) because I was elsewhere when he did it earlier in the day. I think it was worth it.

One of the things I love most about skateboarding are the backyard events that bring together shredders from all over the world in a non-contest situation. These no-stress sessions are a thing of beauty and “The Rumble In Ramona” is the yearly Lollapolooza of vertical skateboarding. If you’ve never made it out to the event you’re really missing out on something special and I suggest you get your ass out there next year.
