Ryan Sheckler Opens Up About The Dark Side Of His MTV Reality Show

Ryan Sheckler, if you didn’t already know, was a huge reality TV star back in the day (his Life Of Ryan show ran for three seasons on MTV). In a recent interview with Graham Bensinger, Shecks talks about how the producers on his show manipulated him for the sake of ratings, and how his actual, real-life traumas as a teenager became fodder for everyone’s amusement:

“My nickname became ‘Cryin Ryan’… which I thought was funny at first, until it wasn’t. They were making fun of me for crying about hearing that my parents were gonna get divorced… So I cried and I held on to my brother, then it was like, ‘Ryan can’t find a chill girl; Ryan cries on TV.”

Sheckler says that the impact from this experience was so negative that he didn’t pursue any relationships until he was 25 years old. That’s fucked up. Watch the interview excerpt, above, and show the man some respect for putting his life out there at a very tender stage.
