Shane O’Neill Interviewed About Joining ‘Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2’ Roster

Shane O’Neill has long been regarded as one of the most precise, progressive, and inhumanly smooth skateboarders in history—he’s like something out of a video game. Well, appropriately enough, O’Neill will be joining the ranks of elite pros motion-captured for the latest chapter of Activision‘s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series: THPS 1 + 2 Remastered. Gaming site IGN interviewed O’Neill about the honor this week—his next-gen THPS mates are Nyjah Huston, Lizzie Armanto, Leo Baker, Leticia Bufoni, Tyshawn Jones, Aori Nishimura, and Riley Hawk—and he reveals that this iteration had been brewing for quite some time: “Before I was offered to be in the game I didn’t hear about it, so it was still a secret to me.” Watch a sneak peek of O’Neill gameplay above, and read his interview at IGN here!

The updated Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, by the Vicarious Visions studio, will be available Friday, and can be preordered now for PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One and One X, and on PC, through the Epic platform. Those that pre-order the game digitally will get access to the Warehouse Demo ahead of the games’ official launch!

The OG THPS launched in 1999—the game was in the beta-testing stage when Tony Hawk landed his historic 900—and it sold 9 million units during its initial run. To date, Hawk has been behind 18 games on 13 different platforms (not including the forthcoming rerelease), selling approximately a kadjillion units worldwide to stoked gamers.
