STICK TO IT — Episode 2
The second episode of Stick To It, looks deeper into sticker culture’s connection with skateboarding by talking to Shepard Fairey, Eli Gesner, Bigfoot, and Scott Bourne. At the 6:51 mark, Bourne tells the story of how putting up Consolidated stickers paid for a trip across the United States in 1997.
“I bought this car for like 800 bucks. And Birdo told me—he was like, ‘Hey, you know what? If you put these stickers up all the way across America, I’ll pay for your gas.’ And I was like, ‘What, really?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah!’ And I was like, ‘All right, give me the stickers.’ We started across America. And the first sticker we put up was over the Nevada sign. And we put the cube over his head. So he looked like an Alien! And the sign was maybe like 20 by 25 foot. It was this giant sign. And it made the news, man! People saw it. And they didn’t know what this thing was.”
