Four rounds. Two teams. One serious competition…😏 Team KOSTON vs Team SHANE 8/6/2020 #SLSGames

Street League Skateboarding made the decision to cancel their Olympics-qualifying SLS competitions in early March, in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 and keep skaters safe. That was a tough call to make, but it was the reasonable thing to do. As the global pandemic drags on, Street League has been teasing a new kind of contest and, perhaps as a counterpoint to their involvement with the historic Tokyo 2020 Games, the stakes are incredibly low in comparison.

In an Instagram post today, Street League edited some clips from the loosey-goosey ‘SLS Games’ which pit two teams led by Berrics co-founder Eric Koston and Berrics direct download pioneer Shane O’Neill in a series of challenges at Biebel’s Park. We don’t know what to expect, but with challengers like Carlos Ribeiro, Ishod Wair, and Kevin Bradley on deck, we’re sure it’ll help take the sting out of this year’s lack of nine clubs. Watch the teaser, above, and stay tuned for the series launch on Thursday.

A few years ago we launched ‘AMFD,’ a montage series filmed at Biebel’s Park that was featured in Next New Wave. Watch those episodes, along with our bio of the park from LA Week and last year’s SLS edit with Chad Muska, below:
