SURFACE: ROCK

It’s not every day you get to hill bomb a petrified sand dune. Welcome to the Slickrock Trail in Moab, Utah. The slick Navajo Sandstone was mighty tough to traverse for early settlers on their horses with metal-shod hooves. Had to be a bummer. They should have brought their boards. Standard polyurethane wheels give you the grip you need to rip on these rocks and that’s what the wild boys from The Mountain done did. If you’re ever in Moab, make sure to surf some slickrock! Just don’t fall. It looks smooth, but feels like sandpaper. —Charley Mull
