MICROSOFT’S SYSTEM-WIDE XBOX LIVE OUTAGE MAY BE RESOLVED SOON

MICROSOFT'S SYSTEM-WIDE XBOX LIVE OUTAGE MAY BE RESOLVED SOON

Microsoft has a BIG problem. Thousands of XBox streamers were met with a black screen (of death) this morning rendering their XBox Ones unusable:

Our engineers are actively investigating and working on the issues outlined in our initial post. In the meantime, keep an eye out on our Service Status page for updates while this issue is worked on: https://t.co/99xfLMWcZW https://t.co/NwHUySgBvL

According to The Verge, this is an Xbox Live issue, reporting that “Many people (just take a look at the Xbox One subreddit) are reporting seeing a black screen shortly after their console boots up. Others are having issues accessing save data. Microsoft has tweeted that it’s aware of the ‘Xbox One console startup, title update, and sign-in errors’ and will provide updates as it can. It’s pointing people to the system status page, but that’s also down at the moment.”

One look at Microsoft’s MIXER streaming service around 10:00 a.m. PST painted a pretty dire picture—the “Top Streams” category boasted 7-9 concurrent viewers per stream. PC streamers were pretty much raking in the views during this time.

More tragically, anyone playing hooky during today’s crazy winter storms are understandably pissed off, wishing that they’d shelled out for a PS4 or a Switch instead.

The most recent update from XBox Support shows that they figured out what’s up but are still slowly moving to address the issue. We need those dubs!

Fingers crossed!
