We’re creeping closer and closer to the mega-pixel extravaganza of the remastered Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 release date—September 4—and the Birdman is still rationing out interesting tidbits about progressive changes to the games (Leo Baker, Leticia Bufoni, Aori Nishimura, and Lizzie Armanto will be playable characters). Hawk revealed a very interesting update to a classic trick name, which in our more enlightened times could be considered “ableist”: the Mute grab. According to an Instagram post this morning, Hawk expressed that even though the trick was named to honor deaf skater Chris Weddle, who incidentally isn’t mute, the term “mute” is inaccurate. Hawk collaborated with Weddle and landed on the “Weddle grab,” which he hopes will become the norm and will appear in the remastered THPS releases going forward.
