Tony Hawk, skateboarding’s most epic pro, remembers the ’80s like it was yesterday. All of the tricks, all of the clips, all of the… shoes? Complex’s Joe La Puma picked Hawk’s brain about some very nerdy tidbits of his footwear history in Complex’s latest episode of “Sneaker Shopping.” When asked about getting the box of Nike Air Jordans that he skated in Powell-Peralta’s Search For Animal Chin, Hawk says:
“For us it was finally free shoes! We were still skate rats and hoping to get free gear. So the fact that Nike was stepping up and giving us hi-tops was cool. But we didn’t think it was gonna be such a big moment in time.”
