THESE ARE THE OBSTACLES LACEY BAKER HAD TO OVERCOME TO BECOME THE NEW FACE OF FEMALE SKATEBOARDING

Over the past couple of years, Lacey Baker  has exploded. She was the SLS Female Super Crown World Champion in both 2016 and 2017. During that time, she also signed a contract with Nike SB. All of this facilitated her quitting her graphic design job and moving to New York to pursue skateboarding full-time. It was a long and hard road for Baker. There were times when she felt shunned by the industry because of her sexual orientation and the fact that she did not play up her looks or femininity. Her path to success is the focus of this episode of X Games’ Being. It’s a story that is certain to inspire future generations of female skateboarders for decades to come.
