X Games Announces New Best Trick Contest Series

With the pandemic forcing all of this summer’s contest organizers to either cancel or postpone, the skateboard industry has seen some very clever, innovative events adhering to social distancing guidelines. The X Games series is probably the most high-profile cancellation in 2020 (announced in April, one month after Olympics was officially postponed), and this year would have marked the 25th anniversary milestone of the first Extreme Games event.

X Games’ contest series may not be taking place in huge stadiums this year, but they do have a whole new contest which was announced this morning: The ‘Best Trick 2020’ contest will feature Chris Wimer, Filipe Mota, Clive Dixon, Jack O’Grady, John Dilorenzo, Alex Midler, Robert Neal, Myles Willard, Ryan Sheckler, and Nyjah Huston, and apparently has something to do with world-famous skate spots, judging by the teaser (above). Whatever this is, you can’t not watch it—just look at that list of skaters!

The ‘World of X Games’ episode will air Sunday, September 27, at 10:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2, featuring footage of all 10 brand new tricks, behind-the-scenes footage, athlete interviews, and presentation of the medals.
