Yuto Horigome took home a win at the 2018 SLS Pro Open in London yesterday. Vincent Milou and Kelvin Hoefler took home 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Horigome made it into SLS via last year’s Pro Open where he placed 3rd. He then went on to place 2nd behind Nyjah Huston at the 2017 Munich stop. This year, Horigome showed that he was ready an SLS win with an incredible performance during the Finals that included three 9-club scores in a row. Vincent Milou and Trent McClung were welcomed into SLS as the highest placing non-SLS pros. And Jenn Soto took home her first-ever SLS win in the Women’s Competition followed by Lacey Baker and Mariah Duran. The 2018 Pro Open Finals featured four skaters who had never been in an SLS contest before, with McClung being the only American competing. If this is any indication of how the 2020 Tokyo Games will ultimately shape up, then it will be a much different contest than what most are expecting.
