PUBLIC NOTICE — Green Issue

“First and foremost, we are skateboarders. Every single one of us. It’s what we do and who we are. Skateboarding defines us. We have zero corporate backing and probably wouldn’t want it. We have no outside investors and everything that we are able to accomplish is because of the team of people that we have. This allows us do what we think is right. 

Most of us grew up with the type of music that railed against authority and gave a voice to the voiceless. From Bad Brains, Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy, and others, there was always a message in the music. It was about making things happen for ourselves in our own way. We don’t need direction from people that sit too far above what we are trying to do. We don’t want to follow what others feel is right in order to have an accepted place. Conformity only leads to abject failure. 

As for the name GreenIssue, it comes from the olive GREEN standard ISSUE fatigues that militants have worn, fought and died in throughout history. It’s this militant stance that makes us want to step out of line and do our own thing and in our own way. We hope that our actions evoke the militant side in everyone to STAND FOR SOMETHING and to make a positive mark on skateboarding. We don’t want to tell you what to do at all. We hope to motivate you to do your thing, make it positive, do it to the best of your ability, and put all of yourself into it.”
