This week, Nike SB released its first all-female skate video, GIZMO, which featured influential pro Elissa Steamer. SOLO Mag shoots the shit with Steamer about the filming for the video, and what it was like filming for Nike SB and Baker 4 concurrently in the latest edition of its
“A Coffee With…” series.
43-year-old Steamer has been cranking out parts since the ’90s, and at one point SOLO asked her how filming for these two videos differed from filming back in the day. Steamer says:
“I missed a lot more tricks… had to go back for more things than I used to have to. But I think that was a stamina issue; an endurance issue. Obviously I want to do harder tricks but my body’s not capable of doing harder tricks than I used to do, so you just have to get more clever with the tricks that you choose—just try to be a little more creative rather than just dive down a 10-stair or something.”
GIZMO was Directed by Jason Hernandez with assistance from Tyler Smolinski, and features Steamer, Lacey Baker, Leticia Bufoni, Hayley Wilson, Sarah Meurle, Josie Millard, Nicole Hause, Aori Nishimura, and Rayssa Leal. Watch it in full below:
