DIEGO MEEK’S ‘SKATE AFTER SCHOOL’ MINI-DOC WILL RESTORE YOUR FAITH IN HUMANITY

Diego Meek has been documenting some of the best Arizona-area skating for years—most notably with the Dr. Scarecrow full-length, featuring the magical Chris Milic—but his latest project for Skate After School is less about bangers and more about teaching a new generation about skateboarding. Warning: Meek’s edit will tug at your heart strings like a motherfucker, bringing a tear to your eye AND make you want to skate. What a weird feeling.

Here’s the caption from Meek’s YouTube page:

Skate After School is a nonprofit founded in 2011 that now serves over 250 children a week across eight low-income elementary schools, providing students with a safe space to learn how to skateboard with qualified volunteers and mentors. the kids are really the magic of the program. I had the opportunity to meet and have some discussions with the kids about their outlook on skateboarding, the program, and life in general. It was amazing to see each one of their unique personalities and what they had to say. Here is a little glimpse into their world.”

And… just watch Milic’s part here while you’re at it:
