The Olympics, in collaboration with Worldwide Olympic Partner Samsung, has unveiled an exciting new competition, the Let’s Move Street Challenge. This innovative online contest invites skateboarders, BMXers and breakers from around the world to showcase their creative talents.

The Let’s Move Street Challenge, part of the IOC’s ongoing efforts to promote active lifestyles and urban sports, encourages participants to submit a 30-second video displaying their best moves. The competition, which is open for submissions from September 23rd to October 23rd, is accessible to individuals of all ages and skill levels.

With a vision of inclusivity and inspiration, the Let’s Move Street Challenge 2023 offers various categories for skateboarding submissions:

-Skateboarding Park
-Skateboarding Real Street (In the streets)
-Skateboarding Park/Plaza (skatepark)

The victors of the challenge will enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Shanghai Olympic Qualifier on the road to Paris 2024 and VIP meet & greets with the biggest names in skateboarding. Winners will gain special access to observe world-class competition and go behind the scenes with the athletes and events.

Entries will be evaluated by a panel of expert judges and influential figures from the BMX, breaking, and skateboarding communities. Additionally, sports enthusiasts worldwide will have the opportunity to vote for their “fan favorite” videos. The winners of these awards will be announced in November during a live-streamed show that celebrates the sports, their communities, athletes, and the Let’s Move Street Challenge competitors.

The Let’s Move Street Challenge is an extension of the IOC’s broader Let’s Move initiative, launched on Olympic Day in 2023. This initiative aims to inspire and enable young people to embrace a more active lifestyle by participating in urban sports. These sports, including BMX, breaking, and skateboarding, are known for their accessibility, inclusivity, and community-driven nature. The competition seeks to break down barriers to physical activity, especially among young people, by promoting these exciting urban sports.

The 2021 USA Skateboarding Women’s Street Skateboarding National Champion Mariah Duran shared her thoughts on the Let’s Move Street Challenge: “Skateboarding is all about people having fun, being creative. I see that everywhere I go, outside of competitions, people being so creative with a skateboard, there is so much out there. There are tricks still being invented, that have never been done. I’m excited to see what people submit to the Let’s Move Street Challenge; you never know what is next with skateboarding, that’s what’s so cool!”
