STEFAN JANOSKI’S STOP-MOTION FILM WAS FEATURED BY VIMEO

Stefan Janoski, a multi-talented artist and man who’s incapable of frowning, is a featured filmmaker this month on Vimeo. His recent work, “God I Need a Girlfriend,” has been selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick—the video service’s premier spotlight for video excellence.

“God I Need a Girlfriend” is a stop-motion piece (produced by Movie Mountain, and scored and written by Janoski), which serves as the background for Janoski’s sculpture of the same name. A modern update of the Adam and Eve origin story, “God…” tackles a difficult theme—loneliness and depression—while Janoski’s soundtrack narrates every move.

In 2015, we hung out with Janoski in his NYC studio and asked him how he got his art career started:

I thought I wanted to be a starving artist—I was gonna go to art school at one point. But when I learned that it was all computers and actual classes that weren’t art… I just wanted to be paint pictures and be an artist, you know.

A couple of months ago, the behind-the-scenes “Making Of ‘God I Need a Girlfriend’” was posted on Vimeo. Looking back at it now, it’s pretty trippy to see the nitty gritty of how Movie Mountain and Janoski pulled this off. Full video below:
