The Beastie Boys and skateboarding have some very real connections. Whether its the use of their music in noteworthy parts, the role that they played in Spike Jonze’s career, or their connection to the origin of Girl, the Beastie Boys and skateboarding have been intertwined for decades. But, on a cultural level, one could look at the trio as the forefathers of what skateboarding would come to represent in popular culture. From blending elements of punk rock and hip hop, to rocking adidas, vans, and skate gear, to the irreverent just have fun attitude, the Beastie Boys embody an aesthetic that’s still attached to skaters today.
