Tony Hawk‘s mind is like a steel trap for skate trivia, and it makes sense—he created much of the history we reminisce about today. But his latest project isn’t about him, it’s about skateboarding’s dense geographical footprint and the spots that became famous over the decades through videos and photos. Hawk sat down with Vox for a 13-minute skate down memory lane, covering everything from hidden full-pipes in the middle of nowhere to high-bust plazas that burned brightly for a few years then were destroyed. Watch the highly educational video, with the help of Google Earth, above.
