Felipe Gustavo and Chloe Covell Win SLS Australia 2023
Street League Skateboarding made history Down Under with the first ever Street League contest in Australia for it’s 3rd stop of the 2023 SLS Championship Tour. The hometown crowd showed up in full effect to root on the 13 year old women’s street contender and Australian native Chloe Covell. Channelling the energy of the crowd, Chloe relished in the opportunity to shine in her homeland, overtaking the scoreboard leader Rayssa Leal on her last attempt at a clutch frontside 5050 kickflip out down the handrail to catapult her past the 9 club and onto the 1st place podium, securing her first SLS Finals win in her home country.
The history didn’t stop there… The Men’s Final came down to a nail-biting conclusion as Nyjah bailed on his last attempt to overtake Dashawn Jordan, placing Nyjah in 3rd and leaving Felipe Gustavo a single attempt to score an 8.5 or higher to jump up from his 2nd standing. The 10 years of SLS experience paid off for the Brazilian as he nailed his nollie flip frontside noseslide to secure an 8.8, and his first ever Street League victory. Felipe’s journey to the top has been a long one, but it finally pays off and we’re super happy for him!
